SEMINAR

5/6 Jun 2014 in Prague

Visual Basic for Excel with Actuarial Applications

Organised by the EAA - European Actuarial Academy GmbH.

This seminar is aimed to these actuaries who need to use Visual Basic on their daily work. It is meant to provide a solid base in Visual Basic for Applications (Excel) in order to enable the participants to understand applications, develop their own code, and explore the possibilities within their close work environment that VBA can offer. The seminar assumes no previous knowledge in Visual Basic.

Participants

Actuaries with interest in giving their first steps into Visual Basic for Excel and with the ambition to develop their own applications.

Attendees are encouraged to bring a laptop computer with Microsoft Excel installed.

The participants will receive the book “Excel 2013: VBA and Macros (Mr. Excel Library)” by Bill Jen and Tracy Syrstad as a reference book to expand and consult their knowledge.

Purpose and Nature

The seminar will combine theory with practise. The primary goal is that the participants are able to understand how excel and visual basic work together, their possibilities and limitations, and grasp the basic understanding of the language of visual basic, and how to develop their Visual Basic knowledge further after the seminar. The nature of the seminar will be active, i.e. the participants will be highly involved in doing exercises at the seminar in order to test their newly acquired knowledge. Examples of the main actuarial streams will be developed to the extent of our possibilities (Life, Non-life, investment, solvency) where the visual basic knowledge will be put at use.

Language

The language of the seminar will be English.
